Course description

Overview

MTH 280 gives the student a deeper look into the algorithms and computational aspects lurking behind obtaining solutions to problems in Calculus, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. Numerical Analysis is sometimes called the mathematics of scientific computing, and, as such, the class will invariably involve some computing in MATLAB.

Topics covered

MTH 280 will cover roughly Chapters 1 - 8 of the textbook Numerical Analysis: Mathematics of Scientific Computing (Third Edition) by David Kincaid and Ward Cheney.
