Syllabus:

The syllabus is posted!

Textbook:

The textbook is Spivak Calculus (4th edition).

Evaluation and Grading:

There will be two midterms and one final exam, weekly homework, and weekly workshops. The two midterms together count for 1/3 of your course grade, the final is 1/3 of your grade, and the homework and workshop together are also 1/3 of your grade.

Workshop:

Here is the workshop schedule:

Thursday 7 - 9pm in Hylan 1106A - Mira and Nate

Friday 11:50am - 1:45pm in Hylan 1101 - Will

You are required to regularly attend one of these. If you need to switch, let both your TA and the TA of the other workshop know. And you should always feel free to attend more than one.

Homework:

Homework will be weekly, generally due Monday at 10am on gradescope. We will drop the lowest two homework scores.

Exams:

There will be two common midterm exams and a final. The dates for these exams can be found here.

The Final will have a part A and part B. The final Part A will replace one of your midterms if that improves your grade.

Academic Integrity Statement:

You are responsible for knowing and abiding by the University of Rochester’s academic integrity code. For a complete listing, visit the College’s academic honesty web site. Any violation of academic integrity will be pursued according to the specified procedures.

In particular, please note the following Math Department policy on unauthorized online resources: Any usage whatsoever of online solution sets or paid online resources (chegg.com or similar) is considered an academic honesty violation and will be reported to the Board on Academic Honesty. In particular, any assignment found to contain content which originated from such sources is subject to a minimum penalty of zero on the assignment and a full letter grade reduction at the end of the semester (e.g. a B would be reduced to a C). Depending on the circumstances, this may apply even if the unauthorized content was obtained through indirect means (through a friend for instance) and/or the student is seemingly unaware that the content originated from such sources. If you have any questions about whether resources are acceptable, please check with your instructor.

Disability Resources:

The University of Rochester respects and welcomes students of all backgrounds and abilities. In the event you encounter any barrier(s) to full participation in this course due to the impact of a disability, please contact the Office of Disability Resources. The access coordinators in the Office of Disability Resources can meet with you to discuss the barriers you are experiencing and explain the eligibility process for establishing academic accommodations.
