Description
Algebraic geometry is the study of geometric objects defined by polynomials in several variables. This course will present a mix of classical geometric methods along with techniques from commutative algebra, which provides the technical underpinnings of modern algebraic geometry. Particular emphasis will be paid to algebraic curves. A working knowledge of commutative algebra is a prerequisite for the course.
Topics covered
Varieties in projective space, curves, intersections in projective space.
